Aye, I've got it ready - I thought PD might be interested if he hasn't seen it already.

Meh, I got my photo in there four times this month - my best yet!

I thought we could announce the day's events to the unwashed? It shows a level of commitment and professionalism and is something others haven't done - it stands us in a good light with the reenactors too...

Hey chaps! The Comrades in Arms organising team had a fantastic day today on a pyrotechnic competence training course at Tony Lewis's TLSFX factory in Lincolnshire. Run by PD of reenacting fame and ably assisted by Poacher and our very own Major we got to learn all the ins and outs of H&S, fuse and pyro types along with admin procedures. We tried many different pyro types and methods of installation and ignition and oh! we got to blow shit up too - big time! We tried many different pyro types and methods of installation and ignition. Look out for more adventurous and impressive pyro displays at a CIA game soon :wink: :lol:

Funny. Jay and I were just saying we should announce it.

Whilst I'm at it, pretty happy with the AFRA press release too, with relevant speeling and gramer chances.

Hmmmmm.... Tony wanted us to keep shtum about him showing us the high explosives I think. We don't have to say how we did it I suppose.

The C4 and det cord stuff was supposed to be between us.

C4, Detcord? Nah, dont recollect anything like that happening.... :roll:

**edit**

Best off if we keep that pic, and any talk about it, amongst ourselves.

We can display it an an event sometime in the future ....no need to explain how it was done eh !
But yeah, no mention of the contents of the course on this forum ....keep trade secrets to ourselves !

Heh, I must find a tongue-in-cheek smilie sometime! :slap:

I may bring it next week (if I have space in the car) to use as an grenade target on the range...

I got thinking on the drive back from Stephens place, we really ought to have a "bible" for our Pyro endeavours. Log books for the actual effect of various different types of pyro - as PD suggested - is great, but we really need a definitive "CiA Standard Operating Procedure for the employment of pyrotechnics" type of affair. The TLSFX course notes are a great source book, but cover an awful lot of stuff that we dont need (i.e. "public display" type crap)

Now, as i've been stupid enough to volunteer myself for the Risk Assessments for Pyro, im now going to be dumb enough to volunteer to do this. (yeah, I know, never volunteer for anything!)

Your thoughts, gentlemen?

Yes, good idea - something more relevant would be more useful.

Also a kit list would ensure we have everything to hand. I liked the idea of a tool roll or box - things that are never removed for other purposes and so aren't there when you need them.

Suggestions for contents - I'll start it off
* Two pairs wire cutters (pref with wire stripper)
* Roll gaffa tape
* Small cut lengths of 1.5" plastic waste pipe (for rocket wires, driving into ground to drop charges into for straffing runs, saves digging)
* Couple rolls insulating tape
* Scissors
* 9v battery with snap-on connector and fly leads
* Hazzard tape
* Tag markers

Other items needed:
First aid box
Bucket
Spade
Fire extinguisher

Aye, it'll cover kit lists, though i'm not sure id go with using plastic pipe with strafing runs. Its just another item to fragment and fly everywhere lol

Call me an anal retentive, but I like to have a Bible that covers everything - including our arses!

Ah, the blast will go straight upwards - a hole dug in soil flings soil and stone sideways as we saw. Needs testing to see the difference in 'fallout zone' - see, I was listening to PD! Something to play with next Saturday afternoon if we have time :wink:

Anyhoo, minor matter, get to work Jay!

I'll sort that kit out . :D

It can be an A2C/Guy kit that CiA can have free use off . I also plan to modify my det box incororating the lessons learnt from Friday (push buttons AEG connections etc). Suggest we can all use it and use this as a base to build more on as we need it.

I'm going to write it up along the lines of "a compliant set of Pyrotechnics equipment must contain the following", not as "The CiA pyrotechnics toolkit will contain the following" Or some bollocks like that.

Regarding det boxes, mine is looking pretty tired, so i'm going to get one of my colleagues to build me a new one. Always helps to have two around, so if one goes tits up, or gets forgotten, then it doesn't matter - same goes for the toolroll.

I've got a single clacker - home made but safe, useful for the bazooka launcher.

No, it doesn't affect performance at all since it's the size of a duck egg.

On the other hand it makes walking in a stright line difficult. :(
